We are a group of friends and co-workers who found each other through a love of tabletop role playing games during the age of pandemic America! We range from a variety of rpg backgrounds, including experienced players, those returning after years away, and fresh adventurers! Check back here as we chronicle our adventures, and give advice to others looking to feed their tabletop addiction!
Ain't technology grand?
Although many of us yearn for the clattering sound of rolling dice and being huddled around a battlemap full of mini's, that just isn't today's reality! On the plus side, embracing technology has enabled us to bring together players from over a hundred miles apart! We have been using the following tools for our first campaign:
Discord - for communication, collaboration, planning, and the audio/video streams. We have a series of channels in our Discord server for in-game use, planning, chronicling, world building, rules discussions, testing new integrations, and just messing around.
D&D Beyond - We are playing Dungeons and Dragons 5e for our first campaign, D&D Beyond has allowed us to share rule books, onboard new players, create characters and campaigns, and integrate with Discord for dice rolls straight from character sheets.
Beyond20 - A browser extension to facilitate integration of our characters into Discord and our VTT. Allows us to roll dice directly into the game platforms from our character sheets, helping to smooth out gameplay.
Foundry VTT - We have been using Foundry as our Virtual Table Top (VTT) for sharing maps, visuals, and documents. We love Foundry for the amount of control it gives the GM, the myriad hosting options, and the one-time purchase option instead of a subscription.
